Library Rules – Divine Providence School, Bangalore

  1. Silence and Discipline:
    Absolute silence must be maintained in the library at all times. Students are expected to behave in a disciplined and respectful manner to maintain a peaceful reading environment.

  2. Library Timings:
    The library is open during school hours and may have specific time slots allotted for each class. Students must adhere to the schedule provided by their class teachers or the librarian.

  3. Library Membership:
    All students and staff are members of the school library and may borrow books according to the borrowing policy. Books may only be issued upon presentation of a valid library card.

  4. Book Borrowing Rules:

    • Students are allowed to borrow one book at a time for a period of one week.

    • Books must be returned or renewed on or before the due date.

    • Late returns may result in a temporary suspension of borrowing privileges.

  5. Book Care and Responsibility:

    • Books must be handled with clean hands and treated with care.

    • Writing, underlining, folding pages, or damaging books in any form is strictly prohibited.

    • Lost or damaged books must be replaced by the borrower or compensated as per the library's evaluation.

  6. Reference Books and Periodicals:
    Reference materials, magazines, and newspapers are for use within the library only and are not to be taken home.

  7. Library Entry and Conduct:
    Students must enter the library in an orderly manner. Bags and personal belongings should be left in the designated area. Students must sign in/out if required by the librarian.

  8. Digital Resources:
    If digital library facilities are available, students must use them responsibly and only for academic purposes. Misuse of internet access or devices will lead to disciplinary action.

  9. No Food or Drinks:
    Eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the library is strictly prohibited to maintain cleanliness and preserve books.

  10. Respect for Library Staff:
    Students must cooperate with the librarian and library staff. Instructions must be followed promptly and respectfully.
